Ice Mountain

Even though the faculty and students pretty much leave campus after fall finals, the college staff has to mind the store until the Christmas break rolls around. You may remember that the weather was extremely cold during this period so the few of us still around got to see an interesting phenomenon out in the lake along Mid Rivers Mall Drive: the birth of a huge mountain of ice. As the lake's fountain continued to run during the cold temperatures, the spray began freezing and accumulating alongside and before you knew it, a mountain began growing higher and higher. Here are just a few pictures I took of the results. Due to warmer temperatures, by the time everyone returned to campus after the New Year, the mountain was gone.

At first, I thought this hill was the first step in establishing the SCC downhill skiing program.

The warning sign was not really necessary!
